Outdoor Adventure and Forest School Leader (12.5 hours per week)

We are looking for a Level 3 Forest School Leader who wants to develop their skills as an SDE (self directed education) Facilitator in our eco-democratic learning community in Horsham, West Sussex. By 'eco-democratic', we mean respecting the rights and giving a voice to all of nature's children, including human children and more than human children. You do not need previous experience of working as an SDE Facilitator in an eco-democratic context, this is groundbreaking work! You just need an openness to these ideas and curiosity to learn as part of the community. If you want to find out more about the work of an SDE Facilitator, this article gives a good overview.

How to Become an SDE Facilitator

The role involves working with a diverse group of mostly home educated young people, ages 5 to 11+ years on Mondays (Adventure Days) and Tuesdays (Forest Circles) during term time. Please note, there is an option to work Thursdays (Adventure Days) instead of Mondays.

We encourage applicants from diverse and varied backgrounds - and we highly value unpaid and informal experiences and sources of learning as well as formal education, paid work and structured volunteering experience. We particularly welcome applicants who are BIPOC (black, indigenous and people of colour) and / or neuro divergent.

How to apply

Download the application pack below. You can submit an application by email to jen@littleforest.education by the deadline of Friday 6th September

Shortlisted applicants will be invited to an interview on Tuesday 10th September (alternative date may be available by request).
